Checking notice periods and access restrictions
Check the real exit date, notice method and renewal terms, then map who can use each coworking site and space at the required times.
Before signing, establish the last valid notice date and each person's access. Read the membership form, general terms and site rules together: billing frequency, notice rights and entry hours may differ.
Find the effective end date
Record the start date, minimum commitment, billing cycle and the position when the initial term ends. A monthly invoice does not mean the agreement can be ended during that month.
| Question | Answer to obtain |
|---|---|
| Earliest exit | First date the membership can end without an early-exit charge |
| Notice deadline | Date and time notice must be received for that end date |
| Delivery | Valid email address, account tool or other method |
| Renewal | Whether the agreement ends, continues monthly or renews for another term |
| Final bill | Charges payable after notice is sent |
Work back from the desired end date. Keep copies of the notice and the delivery record. Check whether reducing users or desks follows a different process from ending the membership.
Read price-change and service-change clauses alongside exit rights. The ACCC helps consumers and businesses understand the law on unfair contract terms and may investigate and take compliance or enforcement action to protect consumers and small businesses from unfair terms in standard form contracts. The ACCC does not provide legal advice.

Map access by person, site and time
For regular members, occasional team members and visitors, record the permitted site, work area, entry hours and the credential or booking needed. Distinguish staffed reception hours from the hours members may enter. Access may differ between a home location and other sites, or between a dedicated desk and a day booking.
Check weekends and public holidays if they matter. Confirm that after-hours entry also allows use of the work area and necessary facilities. Establish how members get help when reception is closed. Ask what happens if a required site or room is unavailable.
Access Rights by User Type
- Regular Member
- Full access to assigned site, desk, entry hours; credential required
- Occasional Team Member
- Access to shared spaces only; may need booking or pass
- Visitor (Guest)
- Limited access; requires registration, pass, or room booking
Check guests separately
A meeting guest differs from another person working for the day. Confirm who may register guests, where they may go, how long they may stay, and when a separate pass or room booking is required. Do not assume a colleague may use a member's desk booking or credential.
Where a sales explanation differs from the agreement, request written confirmation for the exact product and site. Keep it with the signed terms and record the notice deadline on a calendar.
